Winter Season

Winter is well underway at the Men's Shelter and it really hasn't even gotten cold yet. With the opening of our Statesville Ave campus for the season on October 1st and the expanded capacity at our Tryon Street campus, we're already averaging close to 400 men per night! Even more alarming is the dramatic rise in men coming to the shelters that have never been here before - almost 300! Our commitment to the men we serve and to the community is that no man experiencing homelessness who is seeking shelter will be turned away this winter. That's a lofty goal and I know our staff is up to the challenge. But to be successful, we need a lot of help. We need to raise more money this year to meet the growing demands for emergency shelter and and basic needs (food, shelter, clothing, etc.). We need more volunteers to help serve meals and to help with activities at our shelters. We need more donations of new underwear, socks, and coats. We need you to consider making a financial gift and volunteering your time today. Please visit www.MensShelterofCharlotte.org now to find out more.

Just try to imagine for a moment what it must have felt like last night in the pouring rain, chilly temperature, and nasty winds to have been struggling to survive on the streets.
