Our goal is to be the safety net for homeless men by identifying and filling service gaps, ensuring an adequate supply of emergency shelter beds, and offering a continuum of supportive services that help men move beyond homelessness.

I heard about the mob scene outside the shelter Friday when too many men showed up for beds.
I can understand how that needs to be stopped but at the same time, it shows just how huge the problem of homelessness is.
Is it true that from now on the men have to leave the shelter after breakfast and remain away until dinner?
By it's very nature this seems punitive. Cold weather's here and will only get worse. Where do these men go? Who wants them hanging around if not the Men's Uptown Shelter?
There must be many other solutions to this; ones that are more humane.
